On November 22nd Liberal Democrat Councillor Jean Fooks presented a 300-signature petition to the County Council, asking for improved bus services to Headington and the hospitals beyond the John Radcliffe. People came from both North Oxford and Headington to support the petition.

Jean pointed out how impossible it is for people to reach the Nuffield, Churchill and Warneford hospitals, as well as Brookes University, by bus from the north of the city. With the opening of the new cancer centre at the Churchill next April, it will be even more important to have a regular bus service for staff, patients and visitors. This should serve Summertown and Headley Way as well as allowing people to travel by bus between the hospitals.

"Merely restricting parking does not meet the County Council's stated objective of getting people out of their cars; they need a good alternative," said Jean.
